Introducing…Big Dog games, Junior games, and more!

Everyone who is familiar with our very popular Pricebenders auctions knows about the following auction types:

  • 1WA auctions (auctions for those looking for their first win)
  • Junior auctions
  • Big Dog auctions

We’re excited today to announce that all of these attributes will now be appearing regularly in our Knockout Trivia games, too!

We will be testing different percentages, but currently you will see:

  • 1W (restricted to only those who’ve not yet won) on 4% of matches
  • Junior (restricted to only those with 5 wins or less) on 4% of matches
  • Big Dog auctions on 4% of matches

What makes Big Dog games…big dog?  Entry for Big Dog games will be 5 TCredits.  Lifelines, revivals, etc. will also cost more TCredits.  So why play when it costs more?  Here are three big reasons:

  1. Bigger Zackpots are likely
  2. Less competition is likely
  3. Winners earn a special Knockout Trivia Big Dog badge (note: expires after 15 days).

Your first opportunity  to earn Big Dog status will be in match #2109, which will be coming up in about 15-20 minutes (from this post time).

We are going to also continue to offer free entry for 48% of all matches.

To know which attribute each current or upcoming game is using (if any), simply check out the Knockout Trivia panel on the GAMES index at:

Enjoy!

FYI: So that you can be alerted to the types of games you want to participate in, we will soon be making available a special Eager Zebra Twitter feed that you’ll be able to subscribe to to receive notifications of games starts for each of the different types of games.

WHAT IS IT?

In Knockout Trivia, your objective is to outlast your fellow players answering trivia questions.  For each question, you’re provided with four answers to choose from.  Choose the right answer and you’ll move on to the next round…or get knocked out with a wrong answer. Be the last player standing to win the match and a free bonus entry (maximum 5) in the big Daily Crown drawing for the following day where you can win up to 1000 Rewardicals! You get 285 chances to win with each Daily Crown entry!  Play up to two FREE matches daily, more for as little as one TCredit per match.  No purchase necessary to enter or win.

THINK FAST

Because players could otherwise find the answer with a quick Internet search, you’ll have only about 12 seconds (on average) from the time the question is revealed until answers can no longer be accepted.  So be ready to play when the game starts…and keep distractions to a minimum.

50/50 “LIFELINES”

Every player is provided with three opportunities to use a 50/50 “lifeline” any time during a game.  What this means is if you’re not sure of the answer to a question, you can just click on one of the 50/50 buttons.  The system will instantly remove two of the wrong answers. But remember, there are only three of these buttons available…so use them only when you really need them.  But when you DO need them, use them quick!

EASY-MEDIUM-HARD

Knockout Trivia starts with easy questions for the first several rounds.  It then will shift to medium-difficulty questions, and later still, questions rated “hard.”  Therefore, it will behoove you to try to save your “lifelines” for the latter part of the game when the questions are the most difficult.

ENTRY COST AND PLAY LIMITS

Each day you may play three games free, plus up to 12 additional games for TCredits or EZ Express tokens, as follows:

  • Game 1 = free or 1 EZ Express
  • Game 2 = free or 1 EZ Express
  • Game 3 = free or 1 EZ Express
  • Game 4 = 1 TCredit or 1 EZ Express
  • Game 5 = 1 TCredit or 1 EZ Express
  • Game 6 = 1 TCredit or 1 EZ Express
  • Game 7 = 1 TCredit or 1 EZ Express
  • Game 8 = 3 TCredits
  • Game 9 = 3 TCredits
  • Game 10 = 3 TCredits
  • Game 11 = 3 TCredits
  • Game 12 = 3 TCredits
  • Game 13 = 1 EZ Express
  • Game 14 = 1 EZ Express
  • Game 15 = 1 EZ Express

REVIVAL

If you get knocked out in an early round of a game, you’ll automatically be presented with the opportunity to buy back in with TCredits.  The number of TCredits required depends on the round (the later the round, the more TCredits it will cost you to get back in the game).

TRIVIA POINTS LEADERBOARD

Even if you don’t win Knockout Trivia, you can be racking up trivia points and winning bragging rights and prime spots on the Trivia Points Leaderboard.  For every trivia question you answer correctly, you’ll earn 5 points.  For each medium question, you’ll earn 8 points.  And for each hard question, you’ll earn 12 points.  Note: So that all players have the opportunity to reach the top of the leaderboard, points won are halved every 30 days.

BADGES

Knockout Trivia offers players cool badges, too.  Earn the “In it to win it!” badge just for playing (Note: badge expires after 24 hours; play daily to keep this badge on your mantel).  Earn a RUNNER-UP badge with a runner-up finish or earn a WINNER badge for winning a match.  And if you win more than once, your badge will reflect this and include your number of wins, too!  Also, add a prestigious bronze strip to your badge with 3 wins, a silver strip with 10 wins, or an “I rule around here” gold strip with 20 or more wins.  You can also win a BIG DOG badge for Knockout Trivia by winning a Big Dog match (badge expires after 15 days).

COUNTRY COMPETITION

A fun little feature of Knockout Trivia is the display of the flags of the countries with the most players in the game.  Root your country on to victory from the sidelines or, better yet, enter the game and help your country win the match and dominate the Trivia Points Leaderboard and the Top Player Leaderboard–a leaderboard that tracks how every country in the world is doing in ALL Eager Zebra games!  Note: So that all countries have the opportunity to reach the top of the leaderboard, its players’ points won are halved every 30 days.

UNLIMITED REWARDICALS

Each time you spend a TCredit playing Knockout Trivia, you’ll earn 10 Rewardicals, redeemable for free Bitcoin, gift cards, silver bullion, and more! If you’re an SFI Affiliate, you can also exchange your Rewardicals for unlimited VersaPoints, PSAs, CSAs, and PRMs!

TECHNICAL AND LANGUAGE ISSUES

Knockout Trivia isn’t for everybody.  To work properly, Knockout Trivia requires that you have a good Internet connection on your end.  If you do not, latency may create timing issues.  Note that latency is a function of YOUR computer and the speed of YOUR Internet connection–which is out of our control.  There are some things you can do, however, to mitigate latency issues:
  1. Make sure you are running the latest version of your Web browser.  We recommend Safari, Chrome, or FireFox.
  2. Don’t have lots of windows open in your browser when playing  Knockout Trivia.
  3. Restarting your browser and/or computer can also help.
  4. Check with your ISP; they may offer a faster service you can upgrade to.
Knockout Trivia may also not be for you if English is not your native language.  But don’t worry, because we have many, many more games coming that you are sure to like!

How to play Pick The Price & tips for winning

What is it?  Pick The Price (PTP) is a game that challenges you to predict the ending prices of Pricebenders auctions—with the ultimate objective being to score the highest point total for your predictions.

For example, pick the exact winning price and you’ll score up to 500 points.  For each cent you’re off on your prediction (either over OR under), subtract points.  The higher the winning price for the auction, the more points you’ll score on your price prediction—scaling up to a maximum of 500 points.

For example, pick the exact winning price on an auction that ends at $2.00 or less and you’ll score 300 points. For each cent you’re off on your prediction (either over OR under), subtract 3 points (maximum 300).  Here’s an example:

  • Winning price is $2.00.  You predicted $2.00.  You score 300 points.
  • Winning price is $2.00.  You predicted $1.90.  You score 270 points.
  • Winning price is $2.00.  You predicted $2.50.  You score 150 points.
  • Winning price is $2.00.  You predicted $1.05.  You score 15 points.
  • Winning price is $2.00.  You predicted $1.00.  Zero points scored.

OR, here’s an example for an auction that ended at $8.00 (an auction with a winning price of more than $7.00 makes each cent worth the maximum of five points):

  • Winning price is $8.00.  You predicted $8.00.  You score 500 points.
  • Winning price is $8.00.  You predicted $7.90.  You score 450 points.
  • Winning price is $8.00.  You predicted $8.50.  You score 250 points.
  • Winning price is $8.00.  You predicted $7.05.  You score 25 points.
  • Winning price is $8.00.  You predicted $7.00.  Zero points scored.

SIDEKICKS

Boost your total score further by earning bonus points through Sidekicks.  There are six different Sidekicks available, which not only earn you bonus points to help you win, but make playing PTP more challenging and more fun!  Note that each activation of a Sidekick costs 1 TCredit.

WEEKLY ZACKPOT

To win a share of the big weekly PTP Zackpot (minimum 1500 TCredits), just post a top 200 score sometime during the week (Monday through Sunday).

  • Of the top 200 scores posted for the week, the top 10 scorers will receive 5 shares of the pot.
  • Entrants with the the next 40 highest scores will receive 3 shares of the pot.
  • Entrants with the 150 next highest scores will receive 1 share.
  • In the case of a tie, the entry with the earliest entry wins.

Note: Having the highest score for an individual auction does NOT assure winning a share of the Zackpot.  It is only the entrants with the top 200 scores overall for the week that qualify for a share of the Zackpot.

Enter as many auctions as you wish (minimum 1 TCredit per entry/auction) with no limit on how many Zackpot shares you can win! Plus, for each TCredit spent playing PTP, you’ll earn 10 Rewardicals, redeemable for free Bitcoin, gift cards, silver bullion, and more! If you’re an SFI Affiliate, you can also exchange your Rewardicals for unlimited VersaPoints, PSAs, CSAs, and PRMs!

For ways to attain TCredits for free game entries, click HERE

SPECIAL NOTES & FEATURES

  • To help you with your prediction, you’re provided the average winning price AND the average auction length (time) for the last five times the item was auctioned.
  • To make PTP fair for all, when you go to enter a game, you’ll be presented with a random auction starting soon. However, if you’re not interested in playing PTP for the auction selected at random for you, you will be allowed to skip it and get a different auction (skip up to three auctions a day).
  • Each PTP week runs Monday through Sunday.  Since all PTP entries must, necessarily, be upcoming auctions, this means that entries on Sundays may cross over into the next week’s contest and Zackpot.  For complete clarity and transparency on this, you will find a link on the entry confirmation screen to a ledger of ALL your entries with a designation for which week’s contest each belongs to.

TIPS

1. The auction type (e.g., Winner Bids Free, Double MRP, etc.) can impact the price, so factor this in.  The auction type is located at the bottom of each auction panel.

BADGES

1. Achieving the highest score for an individual auction earns you the TOP SCORER badge (or an upgraded “X-Times Top Scorer” version of the badge). Add bronze trim with 10 top score finishes. Add silver trim with 20 top score finishes. Add gold trim with 40 top score finishes.

2. Finishing a week with one of the 200 highest score means you win a share of the weekly Zackpot and earns you the WINNER badge (or an upgraded “X-Times Winner” version of the badge). Add bronze trim with 5 top score finishes. Add silver trim with 10 top score finishes. Add gold trim with 25 top score finishes.

3. Achieving the highest score for the previous day earns you the “Yesterday’s High Score” badge (expires in 24 hours).

4. Achieving the highest score during the previous 10 days earns you the “High Score (10 Day)” badge (expires in 10 days or when another player achieves a higher score–whichever comes first)

5. Achieving the highest score during the previous 30 days earns you the “High Score (30 Day)” badge (expires in 30 days or when another player achieves a higher score–whichever comes first)

6. Achieving the highest score during the previous 60 days earns you the “High Score (60 Day)” badge (expires in 60 days or when another player achieves a higher score–whichever comes first)

7. Achieving the highest score during the previous 90 days earns you the “High Score (90 Day)” badge (expires in 90 days or when another player achieves a higher score–whichever comes first)

8. Achieving the highest score all-time earns you the “High Score (all-time)” badge (expires if and when another player achieves a higher score).

9. There is also a PTP Leaderboard badge available for all-time highest scorers (all points scored for all games played). The minimum leaderboard rank to receive a PTP Leaderboard badge is 500. Add bronze trim by achieving a top 200 rank. Add silver trim by achieving a top 50 rank. Add gold trim by achieving a top 10 rank.  You can view the PTP Leaderboard HERE.  Note: So that all players have the opportunity to reach the top of the leaderboard, Prize Points won are reduced by 50% every 30 days. Example: You scored 400 points today.  30 days from now, those points are now worth 200 points. 60 days from now, those points are now worth 100 points. 90 days from now, those points are now worth 50 points.  And so on.  Keep playing to maintain your leaderboard position!

Tips For Winning Time Machine 4/6/14

The April 6, 2014 Time Machine contest features the following question:

For April 2014, what percentage of total ticket sales will the #1 movie account for?

If you have access to an actual time machine, you can of course simply travel to May 1st and retrieve the answer.  If you don’t have access to a time machine, you should familiarize yourself with BoxOfficeMojo.com and, specifically, this chart–which shows you what percentage the #1 movie has taken in total ticket sales for the month of April since 1982.  TIP: By clicking on the links for other months, you can get a broader perspective of what the #1 movie typically achieves.

Following is the chart for the month of March.  As you can see, the #1 movie in March was 300: Rise of An Empire…and it took 20.0% of total ticket sales.  You’ll also notice that during the last 7 years, the percentage for the #1 movie ranged from 18.7% to 36.5%.

Movie Mojo Chart 1

IMPORTANT ENTRY NOTE: For this iteration of Time Machine, we are accepting entries representing whole numbers (e.g. 15%) and “half numbers” (e.g. 17.5%) between 10% and 70%.

Whole number entries will cover .0 through .4.  That is, if you predicted 19%, for example, and the percentage turns out to be 19.0 or 19.1 or 19.2 or 19.3 or 19.4, you’ve got a winning prediction!

Similarly, if  if you predicted 22.5%, and the percentage turns out to be 22.5 or 22.6 or 22.7 or 22.8 or 22.9, you’d also be a winner!

Tips For Winning Time Machine 4/5/14

Time Machine’s inaugural contest features the following question:

How many total points will be scored in the national semifinals (two games) of the Mens NCAA Basketball tournament on April 5th, 2014?

If you have access to an actual time machine, you can of course simply travel to April 5th and retrieve the answer.  If you don’t have access to a time machine, it will be helpful to familiarize yourself with United States NCAA basketball and the massively-popular, end-of-season national championship tournament known as “March Madness.” Fun Fact: It’s estimated that more than 50 million people will fill out a tournament bracket to predict the winner this year!

Start by reviewing this Wikipedia article.

Of course, to win the inaugural Time Machine, you’ll need to predict the point total of the two semifinal games played by the “Final Four.”

As this webpage shows, In 2013, the answer was 257.

Of course, every year is different—different teams, different styles of offense, different coaches.  You may be able to improve your odds of predicting the right answer by consulting this CBS “bracketology” article or this ESPN article.

Good luck!

Q: My time machine is in the shop (Flux Capacitor leak).  Can I borrow a friend’s?
A: Yes, you may use another person’s time machine.  However, you must travel to the future yourself.  You cannot send someone else to the future to get the answer for you.

Q: What is the exact deadline for entering?
A: All entries must be in by the tip-off of the first game on April 5th, 2014.

Q: Where can I enter?
